The British Association of Art Therapists (B.A.A.T.) was formed in 1964 from a group of artists and therapists who realised that in order for art therapy to develop and for its value to be more widely appreciates. It was necessary to have a central organisation to which the general public and employing authorities could refer. During its existence, BAAT has concentrated its efforts on negotiation for members on questions of salary and conditions of employment; suggesting criteria for training courses and standards of professional practice; acting as a forum for ideas and innovations in art therapy; organising conferences and seminars; publishing journals and newsletters and running a book service; publishing a bibliography; answering enquiries from the general public and official bodies and amassing a growing body of research.

The National Coalition of Arts Therapies Associations (NCATA), founded in 1979, is an alliance of professional associations dedicated to the advancement of the arts as therapeutic modalities. NCATA represents over 8000 individual members of six creative arts therapies associations.

The Arts and Healing Network is dedicated to celebrating the connection between arts and healing. Our focus is this web site which serves as an international resource for anyone interested in the healing potential of art, especially environmentalists, social activists, artists, art professionals, health care practitioners, and those challenged by illness. Our hope is that the information presented here will educate and inspire.

The Danish Art Therapist's Association is founded by art therapists educated at the Institute for Art Therapy, Ulriksholm Castle. The association was co-founded by Kim Aronson, Inge-Lise W. Selmer and Tina Kragh Rusfort in 1994 in order to promote and develop the field of art therapy in Denmark. Aside from providing guidance, referrals and various activities for art therapists, students and people who are interested in the field, the association puts out a news magazine three times a year, entitled "Kiss the Frog." "Kiss the Frog" contains professional and field-related articles, poems, an art therapy "mail box," a calendar with dates of courses, graduate programs and relevant seminars, general greetings from the art therapy community, and much more.

AUSTRALIAN ART THERAPY ASSOCIATION The term 'Art Therapy' was first used over fifty years ago, beginning in the United Kingdom and the United States. It is now a well established part of assessment and treatment programmes in many parts of the world. The Australian National Art Therapy Association Inc. (ANATA), is a non-profit organisation founded in 1987, the first meeting being held in Brisbane (Queensland) and where the first National Conference was also held in 1989. At the founding meeting, most of the ten present were trained and registered in either the USA or the UK. Since then, Australia has become one of the countries outside Europe and North America to provide studies in Art Therapy at postgraduate level.

Art Therapy Student Networking Forum, the objectives of this web-site are to provide undergraduate and graduate art therapy students (as well as art therapists!) with an on-line networking community. The forum has been up and running since January 1999 and has been honoured to have hundreds of students and professionals world-wide communicating and connecting about the field of art therapy!
